The Fridge is located behind the Belga Cafe and Shakespeare Theatre Company offices
in the alley directly across the street from Matchbox on 8th Street, SE.

The Fridge is 2 blocks from the Eastern Market Orange and Blue Line Metro.

Street parking is available and there is a parking lot directly under the Southeast Freeway at 8th and I Street, SE.

Facilitator Biographies

Stephen Clapp is a performing artist, composer, teaching artist, certified Arts Integration specialist and Founder/Co-Artistic Director of Dance Box Theater, Inc. He served as chair of the Board of Directors for Alternate ROOTS from 2005-2007 and is a facilitator with the Alternate ROOTS Resources for Social Change program. Clapp has facilitated professional development workshops with Amnesty International, the National Performance Network, Dance Place, Dance Box Theater and Alternate ROOTS. He recently served as a lead facilitator for a National Learning Exchange hosted by Alternate ROOTS in West Baltimore. He is a resident artist with Joe's Movement Emporium and has served on the development staff of Dance Place for over eight years. Clapp teaches theater, creative movement and leadership to youth and teens; and consults for non-profit dance companies throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.




Ilana Silverstein is a dance artist and community organizer in Washington, DC. She studies nationally and locally with mentors, 
supports the next generation of artists, approaches movement with mindfulness and commits to the creative process.  She has performed with Dance Box Theater, Daniel Burkholder/The 
Playground, Lotta Lundgren, Christine Stone Martin and other independent artists in the D.C. area.  Ilana's work has been presented by the Philly Fringe Festival, Gaia in 
Washington DC, and was selected for the 2011 Source Festival Artistic Blind Dates. Ilana has worked for a number of arts organizations including the Denison University Dance 
Department, Links Hall in Chicago, Earthdance in western Massachusetts, The Boston Mayors office of Arts, Arts Presenters and Dance Place.  She has received funding from the 
National Performance Network Community Fund Mentorship and Leadership grant program (to research best practices in non-profit arts organizations across the country), the 
Creative Communities Fund and the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities.  She teaches Moving Meditation at Joy of Motion Dance Center and directs The Field/DC.
